Policy for Awarding and
Disbursing Year-Round Pell
for Summer Term 2010

For the 2009-2010 crossover period, South Georgia College will consider the period as part of the 2009-2010 award year, exercising the option to be exempted from the rules governing year-round Pell for the 2010-2011 crossover period and beyond. This exemption allows South Georgia College to delay the requirement of tracking progression and using the upcoming year’s EFC if most advantageous.

Awarding
Since South Georgia College has selected to opt out of applying the crossover period regulations for 2010-2011 to the summer 2010 term, the following stipulation(s) will apply in regards to awarding and disbursing year round Pell:

  1. South Georgia College will manually review year-round Pell Grant eligibility for the summer 2010 term for students who were previously awarded for fall and spring for the 2009-2010 academic year and who completed the Request for Financial Aid for summer term 2010.

  2. South Georgia College will review year-round Pell Grant eligibility for students who are admitted or readmitted for the summer 2010 term when they are awarded.

  3. South Georgia College will perform an overall review of awards for summer 2010 for students who are Pell eligible to ensure all students have been awarded year-round Pell correctly.

  4. All students will be notified of the additional award using our normal award notification procedures.

Disbursement
The appropriate amount of Pell will be disbursed to students for the summer 2010 term based on their status for year-round Pell, enrollment (minimum half-time enrollment required for year-round Pell), as well as all other eligibility requirements. All other Title IV policies governing the Pell Grant will be observed and implemented, as appropriate.
