Steps to using Student Banner
To login to Self Service
Banner:
- Go to http://www.sgc.edu/
- Click on “Self Service Banner”
- Click on “Self Service Banner” where it states, Continue to Self Service

- Next, click on “enter Secure Area”
- Then, enter your “User ID” in the User Id login area. The User Id is your student ID number which begins: 928******
- Now enter your PIN. Your initial PIN number is your six digit birthday (MMDDYY).
- Then click “Login”
- You will be required to change your PIN number the first time.
To register for classes:
- Click on Students Services and Financial Aid
- Click on “Registration Menu”
- Select Term registering for
- Click on “Add/Drop classes”
- Click “Find CRN Number” to look up courses to add
To check for Financial Aid or Loan information:
- Click on “Students Services and Financial Aid”
- Then, click on “Student Account”
- Click on “Account Summary by Term”
- You will then see “Check to student” if one is available for you to pick up at the Cashier’s Office located upstairs in Engram Union.
To view student Records:
- Click on “Students Services and Financial Aid”
- Under this feature you can view to see if you have holds, view your final
grades, view your GPA, and view an unofficial copy of your
transcript.
To check for your Academic Advisor:
- Click on “Students Services and Financial Aid”
- Click “View Student Information”
- Click “Submit”
- Look beside Primary Advisor
To view your Holds:
- Click on “Students Services and Financial Aid”
- Click on “Student Account”
- Click “View Holds”
To Retrieve ID:
- At the login screen click on Retrieve ID
- Enter the requested information
To Reset PIN:
- At the login screen enter your 928 number
- Click on "Forgot PIN"
- Answer the question, click "Submit Answer"
- Enter your new PIN and confirm
To Set a Challenge Question:
- Click on the "Personal Information" tab
- Click on the Change Security Question
- Enter the requested information
