SOUTH GEORGIA COLLEGE PLANNING PRIORITIES 2005-2010
South Georgia College continuously engages in a process of planning, implementing, assessing, and improving its programs and operations while serving as a focus for cultural activity and economic development in its service area. For 2005-2010 the College's planning process will be guided by the following priorities.
ACCESS/SUCCESS
The College will:
- Promote innovation in the content, pedagogy, and structure of its courses and programs.
- Vigorously explore new program options, both credit and non-credit, with particular emphasis on emerging work force and economic development needs.
- Aggressively recruit a diverse student body capable of benefiting from the College's programs.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to the interests and concerns of non-traditional students, particularly older students and those with special needs.
EFFECTIVENESS/RECOGNITION
The College will:
- Implement strategies to improve the retention of currently enrolled students.
- Enrich campus life by increasing extracurricular opportunities.
- Promote multicultural activities and global awareness.
- Provide state-of-the-art technology and equipment for instruction and administrative operations.
HUMAN RESOURCES
The College will:
- Aggressively recruit diverse, talented faculty members with a strong interest in teaching and motivating students.
- Employ a competent and courteous staff to support the mission of the College.
- Provide outstanding development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students.
EFFICIENCY
The College will:
- Increase its service through collaborative partnerships and distance learning.
- Regularly review and improve the productivity and relevance of its programs.
- Upgrade its physical facilities to meet programmatic needs and provide a safe, efficient campus environment.
- Improve its advisement and registration system and all associated records and business processes.
GOVERNANCE
The College will:
- Actively seek broad community involvement in improving its programs and services.
- Improve its strategic planning/assessment processes and promote awareness of institutional effectiveness activities within the college community.
- Develop and implement appropriate strategies to deal with budget shortfalls.
EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS
The College will:
- Serve as an active resource for economic development in its service area.
- Cooperate with other organizations to increase the number of cultural, arts, and informational events for students and community members.
- Work with area school systems, technical institutes, and other University System institutions to develop effective cooperative programs.
