Buckle Scores Three Postseason Goals as SGC Finishes
Second in Conference
The South Georgia College Tigers made a run at the Georgia
Collegiate Athletic Association’s soccer championship this weekend but fell
short in the championship game against Darton College, losing 2-1 in Albany.
The Lady Tigers lost 3-1 to Darton in the semi-finals on Friday afternoon.
The men received a first-round bye and played Georgia Perimeter on Friday.
SGC defeated GPC 2-1on a pair of goals by sophomore Alloy Buckle. After
taking care of Georgia Perimeter, the Tigers faced Darton College in the
finals. Darton outlasted SGC 2-1 for the title. Once again, it was Buckle
who provided the SGC offense; he scored the Tigers’ only goal of the game.
After the women defeated Gordon in the first round of the playoffs on
Wednesday, they faced Darton in the semi-finals Friday afternoon. Ashley
Moser scored the Lady Tigers’ only goal on a free kick in the 33rd minute.
The men finished the season in second place with a season record of 12-3
(8-2 in GCAA play) while the women came in third with season mark of 11-5-1
(9-4-1 in conference).
