SGC Opens Season with Wins Over Andrew College
The South Georgia College Tigers soccer team opened the 2012
season with a pair of wins over Andrew College on Friday, Aug. 24. The men’s
team slid past Andrew with a 2-0 victory, while the women throttled Andrew’s
ladies 13-1.
In the men’s game, Lloyd Matthews, who came to SGC by way of England, scored
both goals. Keeper Jordan Crown recorded the shutout with the help of Johnny
Clifford, Theo Brown, Nate Lopez and David Alvarado.
The Lady Tigers connected 12 times on 19 shots (compared to just two shots
on goal by Andrew). Tiffany Morris turned in a hat trick with three goals,
while Haley Pinkerton and Ashley Moser had two goals apiece. Diamond Sneed,
Taylor Rushworth, Taylor Green, Kayla Herman and CiCi Cooper also scored for
SGC. Andrew contributed unexpectedly with an own goal.
Wednesday afternoon, SGC traveled to Albany for a game against Darton
College. Results were not available at press time.
