World-renowned Magician and Former Douglas Resident Dan Garrett to Perform at SGC

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, renowned magician Dan Garrett, who grew up in Douglas, will return to town for a one-time only performance at South Georgia College. The show will take place at 8 p.m. inside Peterson Hall’s McGouirk Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Garrett’s professional career spans over three decades and his influence has been felt on the worldwide magic scene. He is a performer, inventor, author and lecturer — an acknowledged expert in the field of magic. As a teacher, Dan’s lessons, lectures and magic creations have had a direct influence on such notable individuals as Jeff Justice, Rudy Coby, Jerry Camaro, Guy Hollingworth, and David Copperfield. Garrett has performed and lectured in over 12 countries, has released instructional videotapes in English and French, has published hundreds of books, manuscripts and magazine articles in over six languages. Dan Garrett’s name appears on thousands of magic-related Web sites. He has received dozens of awards and accolades in each decade since the 1970s. As such, there are very few serious followers of the world of magic who haven’t heard of Dan Garrett.

The performance at SGC serves two purposes – it is the college’s first cultural event of the year and it is also a part of the campus-wide Week of Welcome program, a series of activities held throughout the week that celebrate the beginning of fall semester. This is an opportunity to enjoy a world-class magic show locally and free of charge. You will not be disappointed.
