SGC Inducts New PTK Members

South Georgia College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted new members at a recent induction ceremony held on campus. Phi Theta Kappa is dedicated to promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service among students. The local chapter, Kappa Sigma, has recently been designated as a Five Star Chapter according to the chapter development plan sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa headquarters.

Dr. Virginia Carson, SGC President, offered congratulatory remarks to the new members and their guests, challenging them to continue their efforts to excel inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Randy Braswell, alumnus of the Theta Lambda chapter at Andrew College and Director of Admissions, Records and Research at South Georgia College, was the keynote speaker. He shared memories of being a part of Phi Theta Kappa during his time at Andrew College and the impact it made on his life. Kappa Sigma is advised by Ms. Amy Hancock and Ms. Ame Wilkerson. Students with a 3.5 or higher GPA and 15 semester hours are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa at the conclusion of each semester.

Inductees were Tiffany Roberson, Aaron Drew, Brandon Morley, Dylan Ellis and Jamica Coates.
