SGC Accepting Nominations for Athletic Hall of Fame,
Alumni of the Year Award
A very special day in the life of South Georgia College is
quickly approaching. At a special ceremony on May 31, SGC will announce the
inaugural class of the newly created SGC Athletic Hall of Fame and the 2012
Alumni of the Year.
SGC has a rich athletic heritage, including state and national championships
in baseball, football, golf, basketball, track and field, softball and
soccer. Former Tigers have played on the PGA Tour and in Major League
Baseball, the NBA, and the Olympics. To honor players, coaches and community
partners who have shaped SGC athletics, the college is pleased to announce
the creation of the SGC Athletic Hall of Fame. The inaugural class will be
inducted at a 7 p.m. ceremony on May 31, with ESPN columnist Mark Schlabach
serving as keynote speaker.
At the same ceremony, SGC will announce the 2012 Alumni of the Year. To
nominate an alumnus/alumna for the award, visit the
Alumni and Foundation section
on www.sgc.edu. Click on the Alumni of the
Year tab to access the nomination form. To nominate an athlete or coach for
the SGC Athletic Hall of Fame, fill out the nomination form at
www.sgc.edu or contact Robert Brunel,
Athletic Director, at (912) 260-4221. The deadline for both nominations is
