SGC Women Clinch Playoff Berth

The South Georgia College women’s soccer team had a disappointing 3-0 loss at nationally ranked Georgia Perimeter College on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The Lady Tigers came out slow and allowed three goals, all in the first half, only to hold the Jaguars scoreless in the second half. “The women are going to have to play two complete halves if they want to achieve their objectives for the season,” said head coach Ken Kirsch.

In their next game, on Friday Oct. 7, at home versus Gordon College, the Lady Tigers clinched a playoff berth by putting four goals in the net while holding their opponents scoreless. Kayla Herman had two goals while Chelsea Barfield and Tiffany Morris had one each. While the ladies improved their performance, Coach Kirsch felt that they were still not playing their game. “We got too direct, playing the ball long looking for the quick goal without any build-up,” said Kirsch.

The Lady Tigers travelled to Andrew College on Tues. Oct 11, for another important conference game. Results were unavailable at press time.
