SGC Golf Off to Solid Start
The SGC Tigers golf team has competed in two events this fall, finishing
second and third, respectively.
In the first match of the year, the Tigers went to Spring Hill Golf and
Country Club in Tifton to play ABAC. All eight players oneach team played.
The top four scores and bottom four scores were tallied for each team and
challenged. The Tigers came up one shot short in each event on this very
windy day. Here are the results: Taylor Jernigan (75), Mark Ellison (79),
John King (77), Hunter Davis (81), Kevin McKleroy (82), Bruce Ferguson (83),
Daniel Raulerson (84) and Drew Hornick (88).
SGC traveled to Albany for the Darton College Fall Invitational Golf
Tournament for the season’s second match. Five teams competed in the two-day
competition: Darton, South Georgia College, ABAC, Andrew College and Gordon
were invited. After two days, the Tigers posted a total of 640. SGC finished
third overall and three shots behind ABAC for second place. Darton won the
tournament with a score of 600. ABAC was next with a 637, followed by SCG
(640), Andrew College and Gordon College.
SGC’s individual scores were as follows: Mark Ellison (78-79, tied for
10th), Daniel Raulerson (76-82, tied for 13th), Taylor Jernigan (84-76, tied
for 16th), Hunter Davis (82-83, 23rd) and John King (84-86, tied for 26th).
