SGC to Hold Groundbreaking for Engram Hall Renovation

Just weeks after completing one major capital project on the campus of South Georgia College, the SGC community will gather to celebrate the beginning of another extensive building renovation. On Wednesday, Sept. 28, SGC will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the college’s new Student Success Center, which will be housed in Engram Hall.

For nearly four decades, Engram Hall has been a fixture for the SGC campus, serving as the student union and being one of the first buildings prospective students utilized as they began their education at South Georgia College. As the college has grown, though, the Engram space has become dated. SGC has experienced an increase in enrollment of almost 45 percent during the past five years. As a result, the college must update Engram to reflect its future plans for growth, changes in capacity, and student needs. This renovation project will create a customer-focused facility to help students handle all of the services needed to enroll in college. By providing a higher level of service in a more efficient manner, SGC will indeed be able to assist more students and create a more educated Georgia. Once completed, Engram Hall will be a one-stop shop for student services, housing Admissions, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid and the Registrar’s Office.

The public is cordially invited to attend this special event. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. on the east lawn of Engram Hall, located near the intersection of West College Park Drive and Brooks Road. Parking will be available in the large lot on Brooks Road behind Engram Hall and the William S. Smith Library.
