SGC Men Defeat Hinds, Meridian
The South Georgia College men’s soccer team returned back from a three-day
trip to Mississippi in good fashion. The men won both games last Tuesday and
Wednesday and now sit at 4-2 on the season.
On Tuesday, the men played Hinds Community College and secured their second
shutout of the season with a 3-0 win. Freshmen Alloy Buckle finally got on
the scoreboard on the season. Matheus Silva and Tyler Panfil scored the
other goals. Silva also had two assists in the contest and Shilton Jean-Noel
notched the other assist. Sam Wise had four saves in the contest to preserve
the shutout.
On Wednesday, the men played Meridian Community College and won easily, 7-1.
Alloy Buckle continued his scoring, notching two goals and Matheus Silva
also had two. Ryan Davidson, Demetri Dejarlais, and Luke Adams each had a
goal as well. There were six different set-up men for the Tigers in the
contest. Jacob Potts made six saves on seven shots in net for SGC. “It was
great to go on the road and get two important non-conference wins,” stated
head coach Ken Kirsch. “I feel we play in the toughest conference in the
nation and it shows with our overall non-conference record throughout our
conference. We remained healthy and finally finished come chances we needed
to in order to win.”
