Lady Tigers Split with East Georgia
The South Georgia College Lady Tigers split a double-header
with East Georgia College on Wednesday, winning game one 4-0 but falling in
game two 5-1. The loss in game two effectively ended the Lady Tigers’
chances for a post-season appearance.
In the first game, pitcher Ashley Williams did exactly what she needed to do
to keep East Georgia off balance. She lasted six innings before turning the
ball over to Holli Moore, who threw one inning in relief. Annie Meeks,
Brittany Yates and Chantel Schroeder provided most of SGC’s offense; all
three were 2 for 3 on the day. Meeks’s two hits were a double and triple.
Kacey Morris also had a hit, one RBI and two runs scored.
Game two was a different story. The Lady Tigers just couldn’t get any kind
of a rally going and saw the game slip away, 5-1. Sunny Salzman took the
loss, while Morris, Meeks and Amber Joyner each had a hit for SGC. Joyner
drove in the Lady Tigers’ only run.
SGC has one more double-header this season, a showdown Tuesday with Coastal
College in Douglas.
