SGC Honors Day to Recognize College’s Best

On Thursday, April 14, South Georgia College will continue a tradition that began decades ago as the campus celebrated its Annual Honors Day in McGouirk Auditorium inside Peterson Hall.

The ceremony spotlights some of the college’s most outstanding students and student organizations. Celebrating these students’ successes is a highlight of the year for the SGC faculty and staff, and having the opportunity to experience this event with them, their families, and friends is a real treat. Students will be recognized for their achievement, talent, dedication, success, and service.

The College’s academic divisions will award one or more outstanding students who excel in their disciplines. SGC will also announce the latest additions to the list of Who’s Who Among Students in American Two-Year Colleges. The program will conclude by naming SGC’s Best All Around Students. Six deserving students have been nominated for Best All Around for their contributions in athletics, student leadership, campus life, and community involvement. The Best All Around nominees are: Frank Ambrosino, Valrico, Fla.; Sally Anderson, Claxton, Ga.; Natasha Corbett, Adel, Ga.; Jason McCallum, Ambrose, Ga.; Wyllyam Sparks, Douglas, Ga.; and Brittany Yates, Douglasville, Ga.

This year’s Honors Day also marks the first time that SGC will give out the Dr. Jim Cottingham Leadership Award, which will be awarded to the SGC student who best exemplifies strong and positive leadership while maintaining high academic standards.

The program begins at noon on April 14. The public is invited to join this celebration of achievement with South Georgia College.
