SGC Takes Two of Three from Andrew College
The South Georgia Tigers finally hit their stride over the
weekend, taking two out of three conference games from Andrew College at
Crider Field. SGC won by scores of 4-2 and 6-3, then lost the final game of
the series 10-0.
In game one on Friday, starter Frank Ambrosino (1-6, 4.13) earned his first
win with a complete game performance. The Tigers scored one in the first and
three in the third, all the while keeping Andrew in check for the entire
game. Wesley Morris had three hits for SGC and Jeremy Donaldson drove in two
runs.
In Saturday’s double-header, the Tigers used a steady, methodical offensive
attack to stay one step ahead of Andrew throughout the game. SGC plated runs
in the second, third and fifth, and again benefitted from a solid pitching
performance from starter Dylan Wall (3-2, 6.08). Seth Foster and David
Reid-Foley had two hits and Morris drove in a pair of runs.
The nightcap turned out a little differently. Andrew turned the tables on
SGC and scored runs in bunches to win in convincing fashion. Chad Crook
(0-2, 8.35) took the loss. The Tigers managed just three hits in the game –
one each by Patrick McGlynn, Kelcey Butts and Reid-Foley.
The Tigers are now 15-19 overall and 3-5 in conference play. SGC traveled to
Darton for a single game on March 29. The Tigers face Darton again in a
single game at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at Crider Field. On April 2, the
two teams play a double-header, also in Douglas, beginning at 2 p.m.
