SGC Info Night: Applying to College Made Easy
In an effort to show prospective students what it takes to
register for college and to show them the resources that are available to
them once they are enrolled, South Georgia College is sponsoring a pair of
Info Nights for all area high school seniors. Graduates of the Class of 2011
will have two opportunities to receive valuable registration information;
the first Info Night will take place on Thursday, March 3 while the second
Info Night will be held on Tuesday, March 15. Both one-hour events will
begin at 6 p.m. in the Engram Hall Ballroom on the SGC campus. Prospective
students and their parents are free to choose which session they would like
to attend.
Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Life, Housing and
the Office of Advancement will be on hand to share key information about the
College and its benefits for its students. Of particular interest for
students and their parents are the key specific deadlines for registration
and scholarship applications. Topics ranging from how to apply for financial
aid opportunities as well as what activities and services are available on
campus, including clubs, organizations and academic success initiatives,
will be covered.
South Georgia College is one of the oldest institutions in the University
System of Georgia. Since its inception in 1906, SGC has opened the doors of
higher education to hundreds of thousands of students from all over the
world.
In fall 2010, the college opened its brand new, 300-bed residence hall,
Tiger Village II. The opening of Tiger Village II gives the college the
capacity to house almost 600 students on campus in modern, apartment-style
residence halls. SGC also boasts a strong academic setting where students
can receive the individual attention and resources they need in order to
succeed. SGC has a strong athletic heritage, and currently has six sports —
men’s/women’s soccer, baseball, softball, men’s/women’s swimming, men’s golf
(a women’s team will be added in the fall) and men’s/women’s cross country —
competing in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association’s Region XVII.
Don’t miss out on attending one of these two important events. For more
information, contact the Admissions Office at (912) 260-4206.
