SGC Men’s Swimmers Pick Up Second Win, Women Take Third
The South Georgia Tigers swim team travelled five hours north to Berry
College this past weekend for two meets on two consecutive days, one each on
Friday and Saturday. The Tiger men won their second meet of the new year on
Saturday against Berry. On Friday the men’s team finished second to Rhodes
College from Memphis, Tenn., in a tri-meet with Berry also.
T.J. Crossland led the men with wins in all three of his individual events
on Saturday. Crossland won the 100 back, 100 free and 200 IM. Travis Jenkins
won the 100 breaststroke on Saturday and also won the same event in Friday’s
competition. Joshua Harrell won the 100 fly and Paul Poorman won the 200
breaststroke.
Both men’s relays won their respective events on Saturday. Crossland,
Jenkins, Harrell and Jad Fussell finished first in the 400 medley and Colby
Herrin, Ryan Norris, Zach Duncan along with Poorman won the 400 freestyle
event.
On the girls side, SGC had two third place finishes. Rhodes College won
Friday’s meet and Converse College from Spartanburg, S.C., placed second in
both meets.
Placing for the women were Stephanie Crews, Chistine Postin and Kaitlyn Ward
in several of their five individual events.
The swimmers will take next weekend off and return to action in Albany at
Darton College on Feb. 5.
