Aaron Drew Signs with South Georgia College
It’s been two years since a Drew was in the line-up for the South Georgia
College Tigers. There won’t be one on the field in 2011 but that situation
has been rectified for the 2012 season. Coffee High Trojan infielder Aaron
Drew, younger brother of former All Conference second baseman Stuart Drew,
has followed in his older brother’s footsteps and signed with the Tigers.
Drew made it official on Thursday morning, putting his name on the dotted
line at a ceremony at Coffee High School attended by his parents and SGC
assistant baseball coach Jeff Timothy. Last year for the Trojans, Drew hit
.314 with five doubles, 14 stolen bases and 29 runs scored. He slugged .363
and finished the year with a .403 on-base percentage. He has a very good
glove, sporting a .962 fielding percentage during his junior season. “I’m
very excited about having the opportunity to continue my career at South
Georgia College. It’s a relief to not worry about where I’ll be playing as
my senior season begins. Now I can focus on playing baseball and helping the
Trojans win baseball games,” says Drew.
“South Georgia College is going to be a good fit for Aaron. We are very
thankful that Coach Scott Sims and Coach Timothy are giving Aaron this
opportunity. We are looking forward to spending two more years pulling for
the Tigers,” says Bud Drew, Aaron’s father.
“Aaron Drew is the kind of player we want representing our baseball team and
our school. He goes out every day and gives everything he has. Each time
he’s on the field, he’s going to do something to help his team win. Aaron is
a very good athlete and a fine student. We are looking forward to having him
on the field for us in 2012,” says Coach Timothy.
“Aaron Drew is an outstanding baseball player, teammate, student and overall
young man. In signing Aaron, SGC is getting a player who will excel on the
field and in the classroom. He has a tremendous work ethic and plays the
game the right way,” says CHS head baseball coach Brad Porter.
