Aqua Tigers Win First-Ever SGC Invitational

The South Georgia College Tigers swim team took the top spot in a meet for the first time this year, winning the SGC Invitational Saturday at the SGC aqua center. The Tigers defeated LaGrange College, winning 27 of 28 events on the day.

Former Coffee High swimmers Travis Jenkins, Joshua Harrell and Jad Fussell, and Woodstock native T.J. Crossland led the men's team, all winning two events each and finishing second in their third event. Colby Herrin and Les Scott also won one event each.

On the women's side, former Jeff Davis swimmers Amanda Bennett and Kai Bowen teamed up for four first places on the day. Bennett won all three of her events and Bowen won the 200 backstroke. Kaitlyn Ward, Stephanie Crews and Christine Postin all won two events each while tallying second place finishes in their third event.

The SGC swimmers will travel to Rome this weekend for a two-day meet against Berry College.
