SGC to Host Diversity in Science Panel Discussion

In keeping with South Georgia College’s mission to integrate diversity into all aspects of campus and student life, the Division of Natural Sciences, Physical Education and Mathematics is hosting a panel discussion addressing diversity in science and mathematics. The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 8, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Stubbs Hall, room 142. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Dr. Laura ChaneyThe discussion is designed to showcase the diversity of professionals in science and mathematics-related fields. The distinguished panel includes Dr. Laura Chaney, a large animal veterinarian; Mr. Charles Ward, mathematics instructor at the SGC entry program at Valdosta State University; Dr. Subhash Goel, a chemist at nearby Optima Chemical; Dr. Penny Jackson, a local chiropractor; and Dr. Andrew Jackson, DMD. The panelists will discuss how they chCharles Wardose their professions and any roadblocks they might have had to overcome. The goal of the event is to open the eyes of all students to the vast career possibilities that are available in these fields.
