Tigers 2010 Golf Season Underway
The first tournament of South Georgia College’s brand new
golf team is in the books.
The Tigers traveled to Albany to participate in the Darton Fall Invitational
at River Pointe Golf Club. The team, made up entirely of freshman, learned a
great deal from this first competition. SGC finished in seventh place and
saw several areas in which the golfers need to focus in the coming weeks.
“We struggled in several areas, but mainly on the mental side of scoring.
Our practice schedule will include mental and physical preparation, with
more emphasis on mental,” says David Haney, SGC golf coach.
Josh Burke led the way for SGC with an 80-79 (28th place), followed by Todd
Dowling (77-87, tied for 34th), Shay Chavous (86-85, tied for 42nd), Kevin
McKleroy (89-84, 45th) and Vince Thomas (86-89, 46th).
The Tigers next face ABAC on Sept. 27-28.
