Amanda Lozell Receives First Nathan Sundram Scholarship

Amanda Lozell (center) stands with Luke Morgan, SGC Foundation President; Dr. Virginia Carson, SGC President; and Kamala and Dr. Yoga SundrumAmanda Lozell, an SGC sophomore pursuing a degree in pharmacy, is the first recipient of the Nathan Yoga Sundram Scholarship. This non-endowed scholarship is given in memory of Nathan Yoga Sundram, who graduated from SGC in 2004 with an associate’s degree in biology. Nathan passed away in April of 2009.

His parents, Dr. Yoga Sundram and Kamala Sundram, along with other family and friends, have established the scholarship. Dr. Sundram has been an employee of SGC since August 1985 as an Assistant Professor of Biology. Ms. Sundram is an employee of West Green Elementary in the Media Center. Dr. and Ms. Sundram presented Amanda with the scholarship at a ceremony held in the Thrash Hall conference room on Monday, May 10.

The criteria for the scholarship are: GPA of 3.0 or better, biology or science major, must be enrolled full time, must be a college sophomore (more than 29 units completed), and must demonstrate financial need.
