SGC Men’s Soccer Finishes Spring Season

The SGC men’s soccer team ended the spring season over the weekend with one win and one loss. The men played Thomas University and played extremely well but lost 0-1 on a goal with three minutes remaining in the game. The Tigers dominated possession and created several scoring chances but could not find the back of the net. Gerald Jonah and Johnny Waters played exceptionally well in the contest. The men had 75 percent possession in the first half and had six shots on goal. The second half saw much of the same but once again the Tigers were not able to produce a goal. “I was very impressed with how we played,” noted head coach Ken Kirsch, “but we have to find the back of the net in order to win these games. The spring season was promising and showed that we can compete with top teams, but I was more pleased that the guys have bought into what we are teaching and the style at which we need to play to be successful.”

In the second game the Tigers beat TUFC 3-1. Felipe Nasceimento, Anthony Cruz and Lawerence Anuforo scored one goal each. Gerald Jonah notched an assist and Pierre St. Amour had two assists. “We played the sophomores mainly in this game as it was going to be their last playing in an SGC uniform. I wish Joel Salazar, Lawerence and Sylvanns Anuforo and Christian Acevedo all the best. I was glad I could get them on the field one last time.”

The Tigers ended the spring season with a 4-3 mark.
