Salazar To Play Soccer at Delta State
Joel
Salazar, an international student at South Georgia College from Colombia who
came to Douglas as a part of the Rotary Club’s exchange program, has signed
a scholarship to play soccer at Delta State University.
Joel is the only sophomore from the 2009 team who has committed to play at
the university level. He received about a 65 percent scholarship package. “I
will miss Joel as we have built a very strong relationship over the past
year,” noted head coach Ken Kirsch. “ I am very delighted for him, and I
know he will do very well. Joel was one of the players that understood the
system and style we are trying to implement. He will be missed not only on
the field but off the field as well. We wish him nothing but success.”
Last season for the Tigers, Joel had five goals, five assists and 15 points
in 16 games played.
