SGC Honor Society Welcomes Newest Members

South Georgia College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted 22 new members
at an induction ceremony on Tuesday evening, Dec. 2. Phi Theta Kappa is
dedicated to promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service
among students in two year colleges.
Dr. Virginia Carson, SGC President, offered congratulatory remarks to the
new members and their guests, challenging them to continue their efforts to
excel inside and outside the classroom. Ms. Diane Blum, who is a member of
the chapter and a member of the SGC staff, provided information about the
organization’s ideals. The group is advised by Dr. Jim Cottingham and Ms.
Leann Griffiths. The new members included an impressive number of leaders from
other student organizations and SGC’s intercollegiate athletic teams. The
inductees represent academic programs of study from throughout the campus.
