Duo Intermezzo, a cello and piano duo from Augusta, performed recently at South
Georgia College's McGouirk Auditorium. Cellist Ruth Berry and pianist Kevin
Pollack played a wide variety of pieces ranging from the Romantic period works
of composers Schubert and Schumann, to name just a few, to American spirituals
and movie scores, giving educational introductions to each piece. Included on
the program was a moving version of "Nessun Dorma" from Giacomo Puccini's opera,
Turandot, and a very well-received, "Feather Melody" from the movie, Forrest
Gump. The duo concluded the performance with their rendition of Samuel Ward's
"America," accompanied by the voices of the South Georgia College Chorus.
