Tigers Fall to Georgia Perimeter, 4-2
The SGC Tigers played a strong game against number-one
ranked Georgia Perimeter Saturday in Douglas, but came up short, losing 4-2.
The Tigers struck first, going up 1-0 on a goal by Steven Kaelin. Early in
the second half, Perimeter countered with a goal of their own, tying the
game at one goal apiece. Down 2-1, SGC’s Felipe Nascimento scored his
region-leading 14th goal to even the score 2-2. The game went back and forth
until GPC iced the game on a goal with just 12 minutes left on a costly
Tigers’ mistake.
“We showed we can play with the best team in our conference and the nation,
for that matter. I was very pleased with our effort and it should boost our
confidence as we edge closer to our conference playoffs,” said SGC head
coach Ken Kirsch.
The men are on the road this weekend with a game against USC-Salkehatchie.
The women, who faced ABAC on Oct. 13 in Tifton, next play Georgia Military
on the road on Oct. 20.
