Ken Kirsch joins SGC as men’s, women’s soccer coach
The South Georgia College Athletic Department is pleased to
announce that Ken Kirsch has joined its staff as head men’s and women’s
soccer coach.
Ken, who most recently coached men’s soccer at Leesburg High School in
Leesburg, Fla., brings with him to SGC a wealth of knowledge and experience.
He has won numerous awards and titles, including back-to-back state
championships with the Nease High Panthers.
Ken
was introduced to several sports as a youth, but soccer became his passion.
Ken grew up in Cape May, N.J., and attended Lower Cape May Regional High
School and earned First Team All-State honors in soccer his junior and
senior seasons. He attended and played college soccer at Stetson University
and earned All-Academic Honors in the TAAC Conference in 1998. While at
Stetson he became very active in the athletic department. Ken studied in the
school of Sports and Exercise Science with a concentration in sports
administration with a minor in history. He also worked in the Sports
Information Department writing press releases, setting up athletic events,
and assisting with the design of media programs.
Ken’s coaching career began in Colorado and continued in Florida. Ken’s
teams over the past 12 years coaching at the high school level as well as
club soccer have earned 14 championships at the district, regional,
tournament, and state levels. While at Nease High School, Ken was able to
guide the Nease Panthers to the school’s first ever Class 4-A State
Championship in 2007 and followed that up with another Class 4-A state title
in 2008. His high school teams have compiled a 98-64-15 over the past seven
seasons and his overall record including club soccer is 180 – 99 – 27. He
has been named District Coach of the Year three times and was named St.
Johns County Victory with Honor Coach of the Year in 2008 as well as Florida
Dairy Farmers Class 4-A Coach of the Year in 2008. He is also founder and
director of Kirsch Soccer Academy.
Ken is married to Bobbie Jo Kirsch and the couple has two beautiful
daughters -- Brindi Leigh, 8, and Abree Ros, 3. He also has three
step-children -- Amber, Heather, and Zack.
