FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Bowden, alumni attend annual reunion at SGC Florida State University head football coach Bobby Bowden (left) is pictured with Vince Gibson (right), a former head coach at Kansas State, Louisville and Tulane, inside the Engram Union at South Georgia College Saturday night. Coach Bowden began his head coaching career in 1955 at South Georgia College. In 1956, Coach Gibson joined him as assistant coach. The two were in town as a part of the annual Bowden Reunion Weekend, which included a dinner Thursday that honored Coach Bowden, a cookout at SGC’s Clower Center Friday, and golf and a banquet Saturday night. Coach Bowden has remained very close to SGC over the years, and several scholarships bear his name.
