SGC eliminated from playoffs, tourney begins in Douglas
Friday
The South Georgia College Tigers saw their hopes of making
another run at a state championship dashed at the hands of the Georgia
Perimeter Jaguars in the first round of the state playoffs over the weekend.
Georgia Perimeter won two straight in the best-of-three series, defeating
SGC 14-11 in game one and 13-8 in game two. The Jaguars, the conference’s
number one team, advanced to the second round of the playoffs along with the
Young Harris Mountain Lions, Middle Georgia Warriors and Truett-McConnell
Bears.
The second round begins Friday in Douglas at George A. Cook Stadium on the
campus of South Georgia College. The tournament schedule is as follows:
Friday, May 8th
Saturday May 9th

Game 3 Noon -- Loser of game 1 vs. Loser of game 2

Game 4 3:30 p.m. -- Winner of game 1 vs. winner of game
2

Game 5 7 p.m. -- Winner of game 3 vs. loser of game
Sunday May 10th (Championship)
Young Harris, the number two seed, is the defending conference champion and
has won five state titles since 1999. SGC finished second in 2005 and 2008.
