Lady Tigers struggle against Coastal Georgia
The South Georgia College Lady Tigers are still struggling
to find their identity this season. The team lost a double-header 17-2, 4-0,
against Coastal Georgia Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The SGC pitching staff has yet to find its groove, and the team is playing
very tight on defense. That has caused a few problems this season, and those
problems popped up again Wednesday. In game one, the Lady Tigers committed
six errors in five innings, including a big error in the first inning that
led to three runs and set the tone for the game.
Crystal Greer, who has been hitting well all season, continued her hot
streak, going 2 for 3 with a stolen base.
Game two was much better, though the outcome was the same. Starter Shannon
Carter threw better, and had a one-hitter through four innings. However, the
wheels came off in the fifth inning, thanks in part to a pair of SGC errors.
Tiffany Davies came in for the sixth inning. She had a rocky start but
settled down and got out of the inning without any more damage being done.
The Lady Tigers played Middle Georgia Friday afternoon in Douglas.
Conference play begins March 5 with a double-header against Darton in
Douglas.
