Snake show coming to SGC
On
Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m., Dr. Adam Safer and Robert Preston, Jr., will
present a snake show in the Engram Union ballroom on the campus of South
Georgia College. In addition to displaying several live snakes, Dr. Safer
(pictured above with an eastern diamondback rattlesnake) will discuss the
research he has done on infrared systems in snakes. As a part of this
research, conducted at the Florida Institute of Technology, he worked with
some of the most dangerous venomous snakes in the world. Between Dr. Safer
and Preston, they have over 70 snakes, including giant pythons,
rattlesnakes, and rare albino species of rat snakes and kingsnakes. After
their discussion, a question-and-answer session will be featured. The event
is open and free to the public.
