SGC to host bath balm, soap-making courses

The Department of Continuing Education at SGC is about to revive the lost art of soap-making – at least on a small scale.

Continuing Education is sponsoring two courses on Saturday, Dec. 6, that are sure to help you make bath time more relaxing and enjoyable than ever. Donya Longoria will teach both classes, the first of which begins at 10 a.m. that Saturday.

The first class will teach you how to make your own fizzy bath balms and bath salts. They also make great holiday gifts. The $39 entry fee includes all supplies. The two-hour course ends at noon.

Donya will be back at 1 p.m. to teach a soap-making course. In the class, you will be able to design your own soap and the fragrance of your choice. The course lasts from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The fee is also $39. However, if you sign up for both courses, you receive $5 off. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes.

Both of these events will be held in room 124 inside Peterson Hall. For more information, call SGC Continuing Education at 260-4272 or email coned@sgc.edu.

Beautify your home with fresh-cut flowers this holiday season

The SGC Department of Continuing Education is hosting an exciting course that is guaranteed to make your holiday experience more enjoyable and relaxing than ever. Randy Wooten will teach you how to brighten up your home with beautiful floral arrangements through the holidays.

Randy is a former Georgia State Floral Designer of the Year. He has passed certification to be inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers, where he will join an elite group of 1,300 worldwide and one of only 19 in the state of Georgia.

Randy will demonstrate the basics of floral arranging and give tips on how to handle fresh flowers. Class will include hands-on activities so you can leave with your own floral design for use in your home during the holiday season.

The class will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6 in Peterson Hall, room 124, on the SGC campus from 7-9 p.m. The fee is $45 and includes supplies.

Classic holiday foods
