FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dr. Carson, Angel Mathis attend NACCTEP meeting in Washington
CUTLINE #1:SGC Interim President Dr.
Virginia Carson, who also serves as the president of the National
Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP), and
Angel Mathis, a SGC student who serves as NACCTEP’s student board member,
visited Washington, D.C., recently to attend a NACCTEP Executive Board
meeting and visit with various lawmakers. One of NACCTEP’s objectives is to
advocate for and represent the interests of community colleges at the
national level in teacher preparation. As such, the visit to Washington gave
NACCTEP members an important opportunity to discuss education issues,
particularly those related to teachers and teacher preparation, with
national leaders.
