Earn a four-year degree without leaving Douglas

Students who possess an Associate’s degree in business could soon be able to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in business administration management without ever leaving Douglas.

Georgia Southwestern State University, which already partners with South Georgia College through its SGC entry program in Americus, is offering a four-year business administration management degree online. Kit Carson, assistant professor of education at SGC, is serving as a local liaison between students and GSW.

The program brings the curriculum to the students via online classes. According to Kit Carson, students would take each class on the Internet, thereby reducing the impact college classes often have on work and family. The availability of online classes makes this program a friendly option for students who may not have the time or resources to take traditional classes.

“Potential students can apply to Georgia Southwestern and, if accepted, begin working toward a business administration management degree,” says Carson. “This is an exciting program that opens the doors for even more people to finish their four-year degree.”

The registration process would take place in Douglas, and financial aid could be available as well.

An informational meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 2 in room 218 at Collins Hall on the campus of South Georgia College, with the program scheduled to begin in January. Anyone interested should attend the meeting or contact Kit Carson at 260-4250.
