Institutional Effectiveness and PlanningThe role of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at South Georgia State
College is to demonstrate how well the College succeeds in accomplishing its
mission and meeting its goals. Faculty and administrators develop mission
statements for each academic program and administrative unit that are
derived from the College’s mission statement. They then define the program
and learning outcomes they believe are most appropriate and report them in
accordance with the Institutional Effectiveness Cycle at SGSC. These outcomes
are assessed to determine the extent to which they were achieved in the
planning year. Finally, the assessment results are used as the basis for
making changes for continuous improvements in the academic and
administrative programs. Planning and Institutional Effectiveness guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive, college-wide Planning and Assessment Cycle at South Georgia State College that encompasses assessment, strategic planning, and accreditation.
South Georgia State College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate and baccalaureate degree. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097 or call 404.679.4500 for questions about the accreditation of South Georgia State College.
