3. Temporary EmploymentThe length of employment in which an employee will be working and whether the employee is subject to the provisional appointment process will determine the employment status of an individual.
2. Regular Employment
Personnel employed one-half time or more for a continuous period that is expected to exceed six calendar months are considered regular employees and are defined as one of the following:
* Full-time - work commitment of 40 hours per week, entitled to benefits of the institution.* Halftime - work commitment of 20 hours or more per week, entitled to benefits of the institution.* Part-time - work commitment of less than 20 hours per week on either a regular or temporary assignment, mandatory contribution to Georgia Defined Contribution Plan and FICA Medicare taxes, not eligible for benefits of the institution.
Personnel employed for a period of not longer than six months are considered temporary employees. Temporary employees may perform a forty-hour workweek. Temporary employees may have their employment extended by their immediate Supervisor for a period not to exceed an additional six months. Temporary employees having worked for twelve months must have a 30-day break in service prior to subsequent employment of a temporary nature. Temporary employees are not eligible for employee benefits.
