The College encourages classified employees to advance their careers through promotions and transfers to help them achieve job satisfaction. To facilitate that goal, announcements for all vacant positions are posted on the SGC website. All classified employees who have completed the six-month provisional period may apply for interdepartmental transfer.
1. Transfers within South Georgia College:
Provisional employees are not eligible for promotion or transferTransfers are considered to be lateral changes within the same job classifications and do not involve an increase in salary.There must be a mutual agreement between departments before an employee is moved to another positionA memorandum signed by the transferring employee must be forwarded from the departmental supervisor addressing the date of transferAnnual performance evaluations will be completed on an employee by each of the departmental supervisors that the employee has performed duties for during the performance evaluation period2. Transfers within Institutions
Employees transferring within institutions with no break in service must transfer all earned vacation leave of 20 days or less. Employees who have earned 21 or more vacation days may elect to:* Transfer accrued vacation leave up to a maximum of 45 days* Payment for earned vacation leave up to 25 days.When employees move between institutions of the University System, their accumulated sick leave, retirement benefits and years of service will be transferred if there is no actual break in service.
