G. Retrenchment
In the event that budgetary restrictions make it necessary to terminate employees, the employees who are terminated will be given at least two weeks notice. Employees will be paid their balance of annual leave, not to exceed forty-five days. The selection of which employees to retain and which to terminate will be at the option of the College. Terminations will be based on the needs of the College and the quality of work performed by the individuals who are being evaluated.
Classified employees who are terminated, demoted or otherwise adversely affected by reorganization, program modification, or financial exigency, as approved or determined by the President or his designee, shall not be governed by the procedures described in this manual. Such employees shall, however, have the right to appeal to the Board of Regents as provided in Article VIII of the Bylaws of the Board of Regents.
