Position: Staff Assistant
Job Title: Student Life Staff Assistant
Department: Housing and Student Affairs
Purpose
The Student Life Staff Assistant will assist the Director of Student Life and other staff members in enhancing social and recreational opportunities for students and assist with creating a safe and pleasant residential living/learning environment.
Nature of Work
Essential Duties
assist the student life staff in providing social and recreational opportunities that promote successful adjustment to college and student success
provide staff coverage for the Clower Student Life Center
assist with planning and implementing student activities
show Tiger Village to prospective students, their families, and guests
monitor student conduct and enforce policies
monitor and enhance residence hall safety
assist the Resident Manager in planning, promoting, and facilitating social and recreational programs for residents
process work study timesheets and assist with supervision
assist with keys, key cards, and inventory
report facilities needs
support college efforts to enhance student retention and graduation rates
escort workers throughout the residence hall
promote student health and well-being
assist with health and cleanliness inspections
Marginal Duties
provide coverage for Resident Manager
assist with short-term and summer camp programs
provide transportation for programming and non-urgent medical needs
complete job assignments at alternate sites
other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required/Desired Education, Experience and Necessary Qualifications
High School Diploma with additional training in computer skills; post-secondary education desired
Providing services throughout the residence hall requires physical exertion
Two years of successful student life or related experience
Supervision
The Student Life Assistant reports to the Director of Student Life who reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
