Job Description
Working Title: Administrative Assistant
Job Classification: Office/Clerical
FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
Department: Student Affairs
Provide office and administrative services to the Vice President for Student Affairs in support of the college’s student affairs program. Provide office management and active involvement with the functions that report to the Vice President: admissions, records, financial aid, campus housing, student activities, student organizations, student discipline, standardized testing, and other duties as assigned by the Vice President.
· Maintains an effective office environment that facilitates a successful student development program for the college.
· Handles correspondence, telecommunications, and receives office visitors.
· Prepares budget summaries, assists with implementing organizational rules and policies, maintains correspondence and filing system, plans appointment schedules, and prepares travel authorizations and expense statements.
· Performs effective communications with students, prospective students, staff, and the general public.
· Schedules staff meetings and conferences, which includes assistance in preparing the agenda, gathering and compiling data, contacting participants, and recording minutes.
· Assists with the publication of handbooks and other publications, and the maintenance of assigned websites.
· Assists admissions and housing staff as needed with processing of applications, identification cards, assignments, data entry and related services.
· Assists with the administration of standardized testing, independent study exams, and career assessment.
· Complies with all policies and procedures of the Board or Regents and South Georgia College.
· Reports to work as scheduled by immediate supervisor.

· Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in English, spelling, punctuation, and appropriate mathematical competencies.
· Proficiency in office management and procedures, systems and equipment.
· Knowledge of computer software to include spreadsheets, desktop publishing and database programs.
· Capacity for learning and implementing the regulations and policies of the institution.
· Ability to take and compose effective and accurate correspondence.
· Ability to work independently on responsible and confidential assignments and tasks.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to make contacts with superiors, subordinates, associates, and the general public; and to effectively convey information
· Associate Degree required with three (3) to five (5) years of successful experience in an automated office environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Supervision:
Reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs; assists with the supervision of part-time staff and students.
