Working Title: Postal Services Manager

This is clerical work in the campus post office or in a departmental mailroom providing mail services to the faculty, staff and students of the college. The employee is expected to work with independence on routine aspects, although advice and assistance is readily available. Work is reviewed through observation of performance and results.
· Serves as window clerk selling stamps, weighing mail and determining cost, disposing of or referring complaints, processing registered, certified, insured, Express and International mail and providing information on current post office rules and regulations.
· Sorts incoming and outgoing mail; operates postage meter and other standard equipment.
· Re-addresses mail to be forwarded; picks up mail twice daily from federal post office.
· Interprets federal laws and regulations as it affects postal practices of college; recommends action to change, extend or discontinue postal service.
· Requisitions money, materials and supplies for post office operations.
· Prepares monies for deposit, replenishes supplies, and prepares reports.
· Performs routine clerical duties.
· Wraps packages for mailing.
· Provides information for efficient ways to mail packages and letters, nationally and internationally.
· Maintain adequate inventory of postal supplies.
· Knowledge of post office rules and regulations pertaining to processing mail.
· Ability to quickly learn assigned tasks including the operation of standard equipment and personal computer.
· Ability to deal with customers in a pleasant and courteous manner.
· Ability to make routine arithmetical computations quickly and accurately.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with institution officials, administrators, and employees.
· High school diploma required, one-two years experience in post office work providing a familiarity with rules and regulations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Supervision:
The Postal Services Manager reports to the Director of Business Services.
