Working Title: Bookstore Assistant

This is responsible accounting work in the maintenance of accounting and fiscal records pertaining to the college bookstore. Work involves design and maintenance of the website for the online bookstore. Will be responsible for receiving, counting, balancing, and reporting monetary transactions. Emphasis is placed on speed and accuracy in handling money as well as performance of incidental clerical functions. Routine cashiering duties are performed with some independence, although advice and assistance is always available. Work is reviewed by periodic audits of financial records, and by observation of the results.
Also involves physical labor on a repetitive basis. Lifting and moving of boxes of book shipments up to a weight of 50 lbs is required. Cashiering at each semester book sale requires repetitive lifting and moving of individual books for an extended period of time each day while standing.
· Assists with college bookstore duties.
· Maintains college bookstore website.
· Maintains on-line bookstore activities.
· Meets students and the general public and interacts pertaining to money transactions both in person and via telephone.
· Receives money, calculates change, and issues receipts.
· Performs purchasing duties for the college.
· Reports to work as scheduled by immediate supervisor.
Extended work hours during peak demand.
Ability to perform routine clerical work, make complex and varied arithmetic computations and tabulations rapidly and accurately.
High school diploma required; computer experience required with some knowledge of the use of the web
Two to three years experience in retail preferred
Any equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
Supervision:
The Bookstore Assistant reports to the Bookstore Manager.
