Job Description
Working Title: Auxiliary Services Accountant
Job Classification: Administrative
FLSA Exemption: Administrative
Department: Business Affairs
Ensures quality assurance of internal control procedures.
Assists in preparation and performance of registration each term.
Supervises the activities of the cashier, bookstore manager, and post office manager.
Assists students with student accounts.
Assists students and food vendors with issues in the administration of student meal plans.
Manages and maintains student accounts receivable including due diligence and accounts in collection.
Updates Banner tables with fee assessments and accounting controls.
Reconciles accounting records in Banner with PeopleSoft Financials.
Assists with projects such as monthly and annual year end accounting close and preparation of documents for the annual audit.
Stays informed and trained in Banner processes and PeopleSoft Financials processes.
Assists in the development of new policies and procedures for the department.
Performs other duties necessary for successful performance of the position and as assigned by the supervisor.
Thorough knowledge of computer systems including experience in Excel
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Excellent interpersonal relations skills including speaking and writing.
Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with institution officials, administrators, and employees and with the general public.
Ability to keep complex records and to assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports from these records.
Ability to balance and reconcile cash to a predetermined set of procedures and processes.
Ability to think both creatively and strategically.
Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures as outlined in governing manuals.
Bachelor degree required.
Three to five years experience that includes supervisory experience, preferably with an educational institution.
Post secondary education in accounting in combination with training and experience may be considered as meeting the requirements.
Supervision:
The Accountant reports to the Director of Business Affairs.
