Working Title: Computer and Audio/Visual Support Specialist

Department: Information and Instructional Technology Division
This is technical work involved in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the campus network and all personal computers and peripherals contained within the campus network. Work involves setting up, testing, and maintaining computer network equipment, personal computers, and peripherals located throughout the campus, as well as software packages. Included is backup responsibility for administering the campus Windows 2000 based fileservers. Work is performed with independence under general supervision.
Essential PC Duties
· Maintain close contact with departments to insure that the network and departmental computer equipment is running properly.
· Install and maintain new and reassigned personal computer systems and peripherals on campus.
· Provide guidance regarding both software and hardware to less experienced personnel.
· Test, install, configure, and upgrade software applications as needed.
· Assist with maintenance and administration of campus networking equipment.
· Handle defective equipment packaging and returns.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor relating to position.
· Technical Diploma, Associate’s Degree, or two years college course work or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be have problem solving and research skills and be able to understand technical documentation. Must be highly knowledgeable of Windows based microcomputers and commonly utilized software products and of how to configure and repair these systems. The individual selected will be required to obtain A+ certification within the first 6 months.
Supervision:
The Computer Support Specialist reports to the Network Administrator of the Information and Instructional Technology Division.
