Purpose:
Responsible for advising
students and the public regarding financial aid and managing and maintaining the
records pertaining to financial aid.
Nature of Work:
Essential Functions

Advises students and the public
regarding financial aid records.
·
Manages student financial aid
records.
·
Updates information in the
financial aid computer system.
·
Responds to telephone and mail
inquiries concerning financial aid.
·
Determines accuracy of certain
documents and interpretations of these documents.
·
Determines student eligibility for
certain types of financial aid.
·
Oversees work-study program.
·
Reports to work as scheduled by
immediate supervisor.
·
Supervises student assistants.

Performs other job-related duties as
assigned by the supervisor.
Exceptional Functions
Required/Desired Knowledge, Abilities and
Skills:

Knowledge of modern office
methods, procedures, and equipment.

Some knowledge of current institution,
Regents, state and federal regulations pertaining to the collection,
maintenance, and release of information.

Ability to successfully meet the public; to
create a favorable impression; and to establish and maintain effective
working relations with other employees.

Ability to communicate orally, read and
perform written and oral instructions, and to establish rapport with
students and the general public.
Required/Desired Education, Experience and
Necessary Qualifications:

High School diploma required, Associate
Degree with emphasis on business or secretarial science desired; two years
working experience within an office environment; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
Supervision:
The
Financial Aid Advisor reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
