D. Procedure for resolution of grievance
The College has designed a two-phase grievance procedure to insure fair treatment using normal administrative channels of communications. No punitive or retaliatory action will be permitted against employees for seeking redress under the procedures outlined in this policy. The two procedures for solving a grievance are as follows:
1. Informal Grievance - Administrative Review
The employee should first try to resolve the grievance with the immediate Supervisor. If the grievance involves the immediate Supervisor, the employee should contact the next level of administrative supervision. An aggrieved employee must make an appeal to the next higher level of supervision before the later of the effective date of the action or five (5) working days. In cases where the action is effective immediately, the employee still has the right to appeal within five (5) working days.
2. Formal Grievance - Board of Review
An employee unsatisfied with the results of the informal grievance may pursue a formal grievance by submitting a request for a formal grievance to the Chairperson of the Board of Review within thirty working days of the action initiating the grievance. The grievant shall contact the Personnel Director in order to obtain the name of the current Chairperson of the Board of Review.
