Discover Douglas, Georgia

Douglas, Georgia, is the county seat of Coffee County. Douglas is unique among smaller cities with its bustling downtown, thriving economy, and a strong industrial and agricultural influence. The Douglas, Georgia, area abounds with a variety of activities. Douglas is also located near the General Coffee State Park and the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Whatever your interest - biking, camping, golfing, river fishing, tubing, hunting, or just plain relaxing - it can be found in and around Douglas, Georgia. Douglas has a small-town atmosphere with safe, friendly neighborhoods, affordable housing, and excellent medical care.

Nearby downtown attractions include Central Square Complex, the Ashley-Slater House and Heritage Station Museum, boasting a collection that salutes the railroad industry and Georgia's rural heritage.

General Coffee State Park is where the Seventeen Mile River winds through a cypress swamp in this unusual three-tiered terrain, which serves as a repository for South Georgia's rare and endangered plants. Many species of wildlife, including the threatened indigo snake and gopher tortoise, may be found here. Agricultural history is interpreted at Heritage Farm with log cabins, a corn crib, tobacco barn, cane mill, farm animals, and other exhibits.
