South Georgia College Student Handbook
Refund Policy
Students who formally withdraw from the College with a clear record and within specified time limits may receive partial refunds of tuition, athletic, activity, technology, out-of-state fees, dorm room costs, and unused balances on the meal plan. There is no refund for partial reduction in hours beyond the drop-add period. Upon withdrawal from College, prorated portions of unused meal plan balances are refundable upon request. Parking fees are non-refundable. If a student is suspended, no fees will be refunded. All fees are refunded in case of death of the student.
The refund amount for students withdrawing from the institution shall be based on a pro rata percentage determined by dividing the number of calendar days in the semester that the student completed by the total number of calendar days in the semester. The total calendar days in a semester includes weekends, but excludes scheduled breaks of five or more days and days that a student was on an approved leave of absence. The unearned portion shall be refunded up to the point in time that the amount earned equals 60%.
Students that withdraw from the institution when the calculated percentage of completion is greater than 60% are not entitled to a refund of any portion of the institutional charges. After 60% of the term is over no refund is awarded. A tabulation of refunds is available from the Director of Business Services, phone 912.260.4377.
