Life Long Learning Programs

South Georgia College knows how to bring out the best in every student, whether you are looking for career advancement, making a career change or just taking courses for the pure enjoyment of learning.

The Division of Continuing Education and Public Service strives to meet the educational needs of our non-credit students through a variety of personal development and enrichment courses, week-long educational and recreational activities and summer camps.  Our programs are designed for students of all ages whether the programs are summer camps for children and teenagers, enrichment courses for adults or week-long programs for members of our Prime Time Institute.  We are also available to help plan events using our spacious conference facilities and on-campus catering services.

Summer Camps

We have a variety of summer camps available for children and teenagers.  With programs ranging from day camps for children or week-long, campus lodged camps for teens, we have something to interest everyone.  Day camps cover art, language, sports and other subjects of interest for younger children while our overnight camps provide teens with opportunities to excel in leadership roles and competitive sports.

Prime Time Institute

Our week-long educational and recreational activities are for our Prime Time students.  These programs are held on and off-campus and include Elderhostel® (www.elderhostel.org) and Learning & Leisure.  South Georgia College currently has five Elderhostel sites.  Our Georgia locations are Jekyll Island and our on-campus program in Douglas.  Our South Carolina locations include Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head and our North Carolina location is in Pinehurst.  We offer a variety of programs among our five locations from golf and tennis to art to jazz and many subjects in between.  You’re sure to find something of interest to you in our course offerings.  Our Learning & Leisure programs are college sponsored and are currently held at our campus location in Douglas and on Jekyll Island, Georgia, with plans to expand to other locations.

Meeting and Conference Services

South Georgia College values its role as a community resource. The Division of Continuing Education and Public Service provides state-of-the-art conference services.  Whether you need a meeting room for 10 people or 200 people we can accommodate your group.  Our auditoriums can accommodate groups as small 25 people or as many as 470 people.  We are also able to provide your meeting with catering services from coffee and muffins to a full banquet or sit down dining experience.

It is our mission to provide excellent life-long learning opportunities to meet the ever changing needs of our community through high quality, innovative, educational programming.
